175-60

I can't remember if I told you (all 2 that read) that we recently had to get a new A/C unit for our house. Ours was pretty old and kept leaking coolant so we kept getting only moderately heated and cooled. We had it checked once and had coolant replaced twice. That is a hefty amount of service fees, just so you know. So we decided it was time to look into replacements. Well our current one did not meet energy standards at all, so we decided to go above and beyond our "green" or environmental duties and go with a top of the line 19 Seer unit. Whatever seer means, they told me that it was supposed to translate to being nicer to the environment and saving us moolah. So we were sold. Another bonus that came with it was the fact that it has a super sweet thermostat that you aren't supposed to call a thermostat, because it is a "control panel" - I love how people get pretty excited about heat and air.
We got it scheduled for installation and came home the next day and were amazed a several things. 1) The unit that is outside (pictured above) is literally as tall as me. 2) the thermostat was really a control panel, you can set a daily schedule, vacation schedule and even set the humidity in the house. -Scott is one happy camper at this point 3) you can't even hear it come on and it cools like a dream!
So at that point we decided we didn't need to suffer through these nice (85 degree) springtime temperatures! WE have been running it non-stop! And have been pretty chilly ever since its installation.
And so today in the mail we got our reward! Our entergy bill went from on average 175.00 per month down to $60. Did you read that correctly? That is like 65% savings! I am amazed!
