After keeping our animals completely separated for 9 months, since Annie (60lbs goofy Standard Poodle) was determined to kill Harold (16lbs furry love monster with really awesome ear hair), and me almost losing it and shipping Annie off to another family. Annie had just attaked Harold for the last time as I am concerned. I almost ripped my dress trying to pull the big girl off of Harold. She goes into attack mode and shuts everything else out. I was at the end of my rope.
After ensuring that I could go back to work with my dignity (i.e. no rip in my dress, just more of a looser seam). I scoured the internet for some sort of a Little Rock dog whisperer, if there were even such a thing. With my first google search I stumbled upon an artile on arkansas online about North Little Rock's own "dog whisperer". -Hallelujah, but could it be true? I read the article, and then went to her website to find out more info. She seemed legit and it seemed like she had worked with a couple of cases similar to mine. So I arranged for her to come out to our house and see what she could do with our children.
Karen arrived at 6pm. She met Annie and asked us a couple of simple questions. It was obvious that Annie felt like she was the dominant one. Karen told us about all of Annie's behaviors and what they mean. She decoded what was acceptable behavior and what meant she was about to spring and attack (only harold, annie loves people).
Annie was immediately calm with Karen's assistance. Harold and Annie ended up spending around 2 hours together without incident. All the while Karen told us helpful and meaningful tips on how to control our pet and make sure she knew we were the boss. And she used no treats, and she didn't hit her at all. She told us that Annie needed mental excersizes as well as daily walks, and that Annie could have a future as a therapy dog since she is so good with people. That would be way down the road obviously. Anyways. It was so interesting and neat to get to work with Karen and we immediately noticed a difference. It was definitely life changing. I will keep you all posted. Hopefully there will be a picture of Annie and Harold snuggled up on the couch at some point! :) See Annie being so good with her new friend~!

Oh I'm so glad you called the LR Dog Whisperer! :) Good luck with the continued training. When are you bringing Annie over?
Ok-we used to have a dog (he's in Heaven now) and we also had to call the Saline Co. version of a dog whisperer. It worked for a while, but that's another story. I totally understand your pain. This guy had to come to our house once a week!!!!!! Good luck! Oh, and I totally agree about the mental exercises-our guy recommended it when they're hyper-to work on training them mentally-apparently it wears them out!
That is so awesome!! You are so determined that you crack me up! And the picture with Annie's new friend...lol...I just love you!!! Hopefully your Annie will stop bullying Harold (and his ear hair)...can I see you soon??? I MISS YOU!!!
I agree with Annie. Harold is so cute I just want to gobble him up! I am so glad the Dog Whisperer/Miracle Worker sprinkled her fairy dust on your furry family.
